We just released a couple of important changes to Topsy Pro that make it even more awesome than before! Here's what you need to know:
Multi-word searches now work like they do in search engines.
In the past, Topsy Pro treated multi-word search terms like a phrase in quotes. So, for example, if you ran a search on Starbucks coffee, your results would only include tweets that used those two words together—and you'd miss results like "Starbucks has great coffee." That's the opposite of how most search engines work.
Today's upgrade makes searching more intuitive by treating multi-word terms the same way they're treated in search engines. If you want results that include the word Starbucks and the word coffee, just enter both words in the search box. If you want results only for tweets that include the exact phrase "Starbucks coffee," though, just put the phrase in quotes when you search.
You can now filter by tweet type.
Looking specifically for original tweets, and not retweets? Topsy's new tweet type filter can help you zero in on the results you need.
Say you're interested in knowing what people are tweeting about related to your brand in Chicago. You want to be able to narrow in only on tweets originally authored in Chicago, and not include tweets from other regions that were retweeted by someone in Chicago. Now you can do this by choosing "Original Tweets" from the tweet type filter.
