I'm so glad to see Maverick is flying a F/A-18 Super Hornet in a desert instead of a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

Known deal in the movie. He is like a test pilot for some high-flying hypersonic plane and punches out over the California Coast. Lands in malibu or something. What amazes me is, that Cruise ensured that no CGI was used at all for the flights and dog fights.
    Real machines, real maneuvers.

Anyone else notices the odd metal ring around his neck? Looks almost like a high altitude or spacesuit.

Maverick also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman and Ed Harris. Jay Ellis of Insecure will also appear in the film as a pilot trainee; he spoke to Rolling Stone last year about appearing alongside Cruise.

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed the 2010 Tron sequel, Tron: Legacy, as well as the Cruise-led Oblivion. Deadline reported that Cruise will appear on Conan O’Brien’s Late Night on Thursday night to discuss the movie.
