What is difference between AC and DC current?

Both AC and DC describe types of current flow in a circuit. In direct current (DC), the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in alternating current (AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically.

Electricity is made up of two types of currents, AC and DC. AC current is produced by running an electric current through a wire while the current is in one direction. This type of current is used most often in homes and businesses where it runs at 60Hz. DC current, on the other hand, is produced by running a electric current through a wire while the current is in both directions.
