My IP Address
The "address" portion of an IP (internet protocol) address refers to a unique collection of numbers associated with all of your online activity.
When all of this is taken into account, an Internet Protocol address is a string of unique numeric identifiers separated by periods that is carried by every device in a network. Every computer, router, modem, printer, switch, and other TCP/IP-based network equipment falls under this category.
This address is the foundation of networking design, and without it, no network would exist
Your Internet Service Provider assigns an active IP address to you once you're online; you don't have to sign up for one (ISP). To use the internet, you will need an active IP address.

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique string of numbers assigned to each device connected to a network, like the internet. It serves two main purposes: identifying the host or network interface and providing the location of the device in the network. Think of it as a digital address that allows computers, websites, and devices to communicate with each other.
There are two main types of IP addresses:
IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4):
Format: four sets of numbers separated by periods.
It is the most commonly used version but limited to around 4.3 billion unique addresses.
IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6):
Format: eight groups of four hexadecimal digits separated by colons.
Created to solve the shortage of IPv4 addresses, it offers a much larger address pool.
There are two types of IP addresses when considering public and private networks:
Public IP address: Used to identify a device on the broader internet. This is the address visible to the outside world when you visit websites or communicate with external servers.
Private IP address: Used within a private network (like your home Wi-Fi network) to identify devices locally. Routers assign these addresses.
Additionally, an IP address can be:
Static: Manually assigned and doesn’t change unless modified.
Dynamic: Automatically assigned by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and may change periodically.
